Our overhaul procedure:
- We examine the flute and assess its condition. Your flute is first cleaned and polished. We will fit the foot joint tenon and head joint if they are loose.
- All corks, felts, foams, adjustment papers, pads and shims are replaced. We install the new cork inside headjoint. (Old corks shrink and the air leaks through)
- Old pins are replaced, keys re-oiled and tightened. For Straubinger pads, the tubings need a tighter fit, tone holes flattened and screws resized to exact fit. Stabilizers are glued to the bottom of the cups to be able to shim new pads. If you choose Valentino synthetic pads, we use the thinner version that come with stabilizers. The installation is done like with Straubinger pads but they will also work without flattening toneholes.
- In many cases we will also replace all pad washers and bushings. We now use JS leak proof bushings.
- After an overhaul, your flute should look and feel like new or better.
- You may also purchase a new handmade style case (artificial leather), bag, polishing cloth, and cleaning rod.
